Zaphiro is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with Pluz Energía, the leading electricity distribution company in Peru, to develop and implement a technology pilot that will provide advanced monitoring solutions for the medium-voltage electric grid across eight districts in the northern area of Metropolitan Lima.
The objective of the project is to enhance the reliability of the grid, taking it to the next level by leveraging Industry 4.0 technologies and Artificial Intelligence. The goal is to ensure a constant and high-quality electricity supply for Pluz Energía customers within its concession area.
This project is an initiative by Pluz Energía, co-financed by the ProInnóvate Program of the Ministry of Production through the Open Innovation Contest, which aims to foster collaboration between corporations and technically innovative startups and MSMEs, as well as universities and research centers, to develop cutting-edge technological solutions.
Zaphiro Technologies was selected for this important project through a scouting process of specialized startups from 18 countries around the world. It will deploy its advanced SynchroGuard system by installing 8 Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) in critical substations, covering a total of 46.02 kilometers of the grid and 131 substations, in addition to providing software licenses. These PMUs will supply real-time data, enabling full visibility of the electric grid through their strategic placement at key points in the network.
The process involves measuring voltage and current values in the medium-voltage grid and transmitting the data to the cloud in real-time. The data will then be processed via a web platform to detect and locate faults while also supporting predictive maintenance of grid assets.
The SynchroGuard solution integrates hardware and software to offer powerful capabilities, including:
– State Estimation: Provides a comprehensive, real-time view of the entire grid to improve performance and support informed decision-making and predictive maintenance.
– Fault Location: Precisely identifies faults to minimize outage duration and enable rapid service restoration.
Therefore, Zaphiro’s streamlined modernization process will facilitate the upgrading of existing substations and maximize monitoring potential across the grid.
This collaboration marks Zaphiro’s first project in South America, positioning Lima as a regional pioneer in harnessing advanced technologies for smarter energy management. The project highlights Pluz Energía’s commitment to modernizing the energy infrastructure in its concession area while enhancing its ability to meet future energy demands.
